Why is the Customer Community User not showing up as a Profile in my Trailhead demo org?

I'm trying to work through the Community Roll-out Strategy Trailhead, but the Customer Community User Profile isn't showing up in my list of Profiles when I create a new user.  The Company Information says I have 5 available licenses, but the Profiles don't show up when I create a new user.  Do I need to create a Custom Profile for them to show up?

I would suggest you try this challenge in new DE org or trailhead playground as there may be some pre-existing configuration in your org.

You should have the user license as Customer Community to see the  Customer Community User Profile.

Check if the default access to Case object is set to "Private"

Setup -> Sharing Settings -> Organization-Wide Defaults -> Click "Edit"

The hint is the body of the trail: "If you remember, in an earlier step we set the external org-wide default on cases to private." (no, we did not).

Now case object is available in the "New Sharing Set"
