What is the need of Email Templates in salesforce? at what requirement we will using Email Templates?

Email templates are very powerful tool provided by Salesforce.
When ever if there is a requirement where you need to notify any of the user with a email, that too with a dynamic the content - Email templates can be used.
Some examples are: in approval process, workflows, etc.
