How can i customize the search keywords on a Look-up view window

How can i customize the search keywords on a Look-up view window so I can use other criterias in searching for a particular record rather than just the record name. Thanks! CJ

Hi,

Yes, you can add other fields for search criteria apart from record name.

You need to navigate to the Custom Object definition there you can find "Search Layouts" section.

You need to click on Edit link of "Search Filter Fields" and need to set more filter fields for that object.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks,

Devendra

Hi Devendra,

Thanks for your post but this is not really what i want. I understand all about search filters and layout but the search layout doesn’t control which fields are searched for keyword matches. I am looking for a way to customize my keywords in such a way for example I can input a phone number as a search keyword rather than  the record name and the number simply highlights on the search result. I hope you understand what I mean. Thanks!

If there is anyone who can suggest an idea, I will be grateful.
