Forecast category

I have an administrator account.

 

I can't edit the opportunity category of opportunities that are not mine,

although I can change the owner to myself, at which point I can edit

the opportunity category.

 

Is there a configuration setting that will allow me to edit the category

without changing owners?

Security settings are preventing you from editing the records, there might be sharing settings that could prevent you or you might not have enough access on profile

I have looked at my profile, and don't see anything specific to the forecast category field.

I am able to change other fields?

 

Do you have a suggestion what part of my access permissions should I be looking at?

what exactly r u trying to do ? are you trying to edit  the Opportunity record owned by someone?

I want to create a utility, owned by the administrator that goes through other users' opportunities and edits them.
