Adding a custom field to a custom object

Hi,

 

Once a custom object has been created is it possible to still add custom fields to it? I don't mind if data is lost...

 

At the moment if I click on 'Edit' next to the custom object it only gives me a very limited set of options, none of which allow me to add/change fields.

Definitely possible!

 

Click the name/label of the custom object instead of clicking Edit.  This will display a page for that custom object where you can add new fields, validation rules and all sorts of other setup.

Before you begin, determine the type of field you want to create.
1.From the management settings for the object you want to add a field to, go to Fields.Custom task and event fields are accessible from the object management settings for Activities.
2. Click New.  
3.Choose the type of field and click Next.
4. For relationship fields, associate an object with the field and click Next.
5. For indirect lookup relationship fields, select a unique, external ID field on the parent object, and then click Next. The parent field values are matched against the values of the child indirect lookup relationship field to determine which records are related to each other.
6.To base a picklist field on a global picklist value set, select the value set to use.

You can create custom fields any time Either in standard objects or custom objects.

we  can create a custom fields for standard and custom objects  even if data is  there in the data base also..
