Opportunity Notification email

I need to initiate a notification email when an opportunity is closed. I am on Prof.version so I can't use workflow. Is there a way to do this?

You should be able to use the Big Deal alert which allows you to define an Amount and Probablity trigger points and that sends out an email alert to emails you define.  Not sure if this is what you are looking for but is available in Prof Edition.

I want to send an email notification to sales grp  when an Oppty is closed(won or lost),  I  did look into Big deal alert & Update reminders but neither serve what I am looking for .   I tried on Dev version thru workflow and it works very well.  I need help with Prof. version..........

Workflow is the right answer for this, but it's an Enterprise Edition feature.
