Retrieve metadata ?

Hi

I need to retrieve all the metadata from an org. Currently i am not able to do so using the eclipse as it hangs up. Is there any other way we can achieve this?

You may use ANT (Force.com Migration Tool).
In any case, I think there is a limit of 5000 component.

I usually use ant as Satish_SFDC suggested, and other times with eclipse.

Also another options are :

- Mavensmate: http://mavensmate.com/
- Workbench: workbench.developerforce.com/‎

Once you have mavenstmate installed, it is so easy. Go to the project and add the metada that you would like to retrieve :)
