I am currently preparing for Salesforce Admin Beginer and Advanced certification, thorugh the modules availble on Salesforce Trailead.

The Trailhead modules are a great start which you have found. Obviously there is the study guide as well. However, I found the website http://focusonforce.com/ to be extremely helpful. There are practice exams and study guides for both exams. I recently passed both exams using all of these resources. http://www.sfdc99.com/ is a good resource as well. Good Luck.
