May I suggest you please Check this article on "Whatsapp Salesforce Integration". You can send and receive messages from Salesforce to Whatsapp using Yowsup library, which is a free open source python library. Hope this gives some direction

The proper way to integrate WhatsApp with Salesforce is through the Facebook WhatsApp Business API that went GA in August this year. More details can be found here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/whatsapp/
We have successfully implemented this as a custom solution for one of our enterprise customers and so far we haven't had any issues with the API.

Yes, it is possible to create leads in Salesforce from WhatsApp.
Just to share with you all, we have got this done through a third-party tool for Salesforce i.e. Communicat-O. It's been 6 months and it is working flawlessly.
Communicat-O provides a Salesforce - WhatsApp integration with a chatbot, that collects lead details in WhatsApp then creates a lead in Salesforce.
