How to create automatic tasks based on no activity on a stage within an opportunity?

You mean if no activity happens on Opportunity during a selected stage, a task should be created automatically?

Let's take an example of "Opportunity A" is in a "Stage_A" currently.

For how long you would like to wait to see if no activity is created then create an automatic task?  Any specific time span like 2 days or 3 or more

Yes, no activity within 6 days of "Stage_A" a task would be assign to the opportunity owner.

So far I can think of having Batch Apex to handle this time-based scenario.
