Field Dependency validation

Why we cannot define standard picklist fields as dependent fields?

In the Picklist Administration Module on Trailhead , it is specified that wecan not use standard picklist fields as dependent fields but there is no explanation about it. There is no brief explanation on Salesforce docs also.

Some things to consider:
1.Custom picklist fields can be either controlling or dependent fields.
2..Standard picklist fields can be controlling fields, but not dependent fields.
3.Multi-select picklist fields can be dependent, but not controlling fields.
4.You can set default values for controlling fields but not for dependent picklists.
5.If your org uses record types, choose a record type to test how it affects your controlling and dependent picklist values. The record type and the controlling field together determine what values are available in the dependent picklist. For example, a dependent value is only available if it’s available in the selected record type and the selected controlling value.
