We can do an “api call” or something similar to the Platform instead of storing the data in SF
-we are currently sending all the Invoices from the Platform to Salesforce (via the famous web-service)
-by having those invoices in SF, we can create reports

You can use external object in salesforce to accomplish your requirement.

No its not an AppExchange product.
Salesforce Connect is a framework through which you can access and modify data outside saelsforce(like ERP).
You don't need to duplicate entire data in Salesforce.
