can we change long text area datatype to multi-picklist datatype

Hi everyone,

I have a requirement where i have to create multi-picklist field: Country, but already country field exists with long text area datatype. So I have to change the existing country(long text area) datatype to multi-picklist datatype where I can use global picklist value set.

But while changing there is no option to select global picklist value set. Can anyone help me on this.

Hi Shreyanka,

Yes you may not get the option while changing the Type but you can change the type from long text area to multiselect picklist .

It is limitation from salesforce. 

In that case the best option for your case is to create the new field and replace all the occurrences of old field with new field and if you want to delete it you can.
