how many lookup relationship can created on an object?

Hi All

Can Anyone tell me maximum nuber of lookup relations on an object.
Are there 25 or 38 or 40?

Based on https://www.salesforceben.com/relationships-in-salesforce/#:~:text=You%20can%20have%20a%20maximum,master%20details%20on%20an%20object which is dated July 27, 2021, You can have a maximum of 40 lookups on an object.
