Could any one tell me what is an user initiated action when it comes to callouts?

I can only think of a button or a quick action. 
Any other options please?

Hi, 

1. Once the record meets criteria when user save some changes in standard UI then we will use the trigger and future methods,asyn jobs to send the details to third party.

2. Some time automation(Flow, WF,PB,trigger...) will trigger the callout from backend due to some user changes in record ui which met some criteria.

That doesn't answer my question. I am only asking about UI changes, what are the user inititated actions that could trigger a callout,  automation is with record changes, but before the record could change, the user in the UI would make some changes, such as from a component clicking a button, clicking a quick action etc.
