I have a formula field on the order object that I need to relate to the opportunity object. How can I do this? Can the field on the opportunity be editable?

If you have relationship then create formula field on opportunity and populate value, however field would not be editable,  Else you can use worflow rules or flows to populate value and make field editable.

I do  not have a relationship but I think that may be the best.  If they can't edit it they want to see the same field on the opportunity then.  Do I create a look up relationship field on the oppotunity to do this?
