CreatedDate error

Hello,
Why is TODAY() - DATEVALUE(CreatedDate) throwing an error? It keeps telling me "Field CreatedDate may not be used in this type of formula" but I know this is how I need to start out my formula.  What am I doing wrong?

May I know why aren't you trying NOW() - CreatedDate?

Of course! One of the challenge requirements is to use TODAY() .

I tried in my org, and it is working fine. Please check if you are using Formula Return Type as Number.

Hi Danish, 
I got it figured out. I was using the incorrect field type. Thank you so much!! I couldn't believe myself once I realized my mistake. Such a silly oversight.
