Populate text field with ID from a lookup a field

Guys, is there a way in Salesforce how to populate a TEXT field with an ID that is in a lookup field?

I am creating a record in Flow and the ID just wont get passed to the field. The field remains null.

Hi Jan, I hope you are well. Did you mean to ask if it is possible to populate an ID from a look up field to a text field? If so, yes it should be possible. Rather than using a flow, I think the best way to fulfill this requirement would be to use a formula field assuming that you are trying to retrieve the ID from a parent record. 

Did this text field always exist or was it just created for this purpose?

Hello, was this question ever solved? May someone please share the formula they used to generate text from a contacts 15 digit long ID #?
