is there loss of data from converting number to text

Hello,

I have to transfer a field from Number to Text.

will thre by any loss of data ?

No there won't be any loss of data when you convert from Number to text. But if you are referring the field in your custom code then you need to be careful. 
The number is of type decimal and text is of type string.  so you have to handle that other than that the data will be safe. to prove you can set up a sandbox for you and load some records with data to that field and do a conversion. so that you can prove to others. Hope this helps.
