Component uploaded with Ant Migration not passing Verify step.

I started using Salesforce's Ant Migration Tool to upload my code to my org since SFDX doesn't work for me (firewall issue).
I want to do the Developer trail and superbadge, but Trailhead's "Verify step" seems to not recognize my work.
@ https://trailhead.salesforce.com/content/learn/projects/quick-start-lightning-web-components/create-a-hello-world-lightning-web-component I followed all the rest of the instructions. The component works, and I installed it at the right place on the right page, made it the default Home for my Org, and saved it.
However, the "Verify step" fails, and I get this message:
"Step not yet complete in ...@....com
Make sure you add the 'helloWorld' Lightning web component to the default Home page."
Why?

I assumed my issue was a result of using Ant Migration, and I was hoping someone who has experience using the tool would be able to answer it. I will post it on the Hands-On Challenge forum.
