force.com domain for S-Sign

I was configuring S-Sign for our company and in the youtube video it was asked to register force.com domain to create S-Sign site.

Sites page shows this:
Your Salesforce site domain name is
myCompany.my.salesforce-sites.com

when i go to domains and tried to create myCompany.force.com an error is coming:

We could not locate the {myCompany} subdomain in your org records. Please make sure to create it through the Develop | Sites page.

Please help I m a newbie

Hi Athul,

You can try below steps.
  • First create a CNAME record for http://subdomain.maindomain.com as subdomain.maindomain.com.orgid18.live.siteforce.com.
  • After the CNAME is created in DNS server, add the domain in your org Setup > Domain Management > Domains > "Add a domain".
  • As per Salesforce you have to use a certificate, make sure you’ve already added it using Certificate and Key Management before you try to attach it to your domain. Details available in Aidan's link.
  • After adding the domain go to Setup > Develop > Sites. Open your community site in edit mode by clicking on Site Label. Add "New Custom URL" by selecting http://subdomain.maindomain.com from the list.
Check below reference for same.

"When you set up an Experience Cloud site, that site by default runs under the site.com or force.com domain (for example: mycompany.my.site.com)......Here are the best practices to follow if you want to run your site under a custom domain"

The above line is read from the link you sent. What i want is force.com  domain, not custom domain, I am confused
