how does Salesforce internally implement account hierarchy

Hello,

parent account (account hierarchy), How is it managed internally by salesforce.

I want to have a custom field in Accounts which will effect this hierarchy.

Hi Sandrine,

Use that custom field in Look up filters of Parent Account field, it will affect that hierarchy.
