Sarah Humphreys Fields show when editing page layout but no where else
I have 3 custom, locked buttons that show when I am editing the page layout but when I go to create a new record using that same layout the buttons do not appear. I have checked the field security and it is correct.
Do you have an override on the New action for the object? Do you have record types for the object that have different page layouts?
Check the layouts and record types as pcon suggests and also check which layouts are assigned to which profile. You may have not assigned the record type to the profile you are using.
