Any user on an Enterprise Edition should be able to log into the API; only admins see the assosiated administrative features (WSDL generation, etc) in the UI.
Our situation is that we have an outside Telemarketing firm that has passed leads into salesforce through the sforce api. However, this firm could not log in with a read only profile. We gave them system administrator rights and they were able to do so and pass the leads into our system. We are running the Eneterprise Edition. What would be some of the security settings that would allow them to do so without having full system administrator rights?
Steve, Not knowing all of the things this company is to be able to do for you; I would think that creating a profile with 'Edit Leads' permissions would do the trick.
