Importing accounts with multiple locations to SalesForce

We have couple of accounts with same name and multiple addresses. When I tried to import the data using AppExchange Data loader, it just created a single account. Is their a way I can import accounts with same name in multiple locations as seperate accounts in SalesForce?

Thanks

Hi,

Use the Account Name, Account site to identify accounts and you can even relate them through the parent account

Our organization has found it much easier to just use a naming convention.

For example:

Acme Inc.

Acme Inc. - New York

Acme Inc. - Chicago

You can still link them up via the Parent Account (which we do) and it's easier for our users to quickly pick out the correct account when logging a call or things of that nature.  Of course, if you're trying to utilize mail merge, it may not work out for you.

Just my two cents

Thank you for the information.

My company wants to retain the same name for multiple locations without adding any qualifiers.

I didnot understand how an Account can be linked with the Parent Account to distinguish it from others with same name.

Are you using Salesforce Import Wizard (or) Appexchange Dataloader?

Thanks

The distinguishing field is "account site"
