Linking to Documents from Opportunities

Has any one linked documents that exist in the documents folder to opportunities. This is the scenario I am looking at
I would like to attach some documents that exist in the documents folder to an opportunity.
 
The user in an opportunity should be able to select a document from the documents tab and attact it as a related list to the opportunity

Salesforce Content can do this :smileyhappy: (although it doesn't technically use documents from the Documents tab...).

Aside from this, there is no native support for attaching stored documents to Salesforce records.

I realize content can do it, but got to pay for content licences:(

Well, you could copy the contents of the Document to an Attachment on opportunity.  Or you can make a "placeholder attachment" that contains nothing but a META REFRESH to the document URL.
