Browser session timers and web tabs

Is there a way to reset the SFDC session timer from an external web site that's being loaded in a web tab?  We'd like for users who are active within the external site to not have a "end session?" popup every 45 minutes.  The API session isn't an issue, but the web session is.  I've looked on the boards, but couldn't really find an explicit yes or no answer to this question.

You can extend the Session Time Out from the Administration Setup > Security Controls > Session Settings

Well, extending the session timer is not really a solution, it just makes the popup occur less frequently, and we don't really want to extend inactive sessions beyond what we've set.

Hi  JBall ,

Did you find a solution to the problem or a work around ?

I am too having the same problem but couldn't find the answer any where.

Please reply.
