Accessing Salesforce Reports via API

We are working on a project and I was trying to find a reference regarding accessing reports via the API. You would think since the Office edition provides just this functionality the support should be there but I have not been able to find any documentation.  Does anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks

Ok sorry.. found this post..

There was talk of support this in the future. Does anyone know if this made it to the Winter 07 release?

We created and open sourced a solution. I just posted it to our blog.

Hope it helps
Gareth.

(Note: not supported by us or by Salesforce.com, but as of Nov 2006 it works).

I know this thread is quite old, but I am hoping to locate the open sourced solution for running the office toolkit functionality through VBA for refreshing reports.

the original referall from Gareth was to:

What we can't sort out are the calls made by the "refresh reports" VBA code which is locked in the XLA (still not sure why the XLA is locked if the sforce connector is not-- at least put an open source version of how to refresh reports in Excel in the sforce connector samples

thanks jb.
