Sending automated emails

how do you send automated emails for the events we create??

You can add a Workflow that sends out an e-mail.  For info on how to do this, download "Creating On-Demand Applications" and check out the section "Workflow in our Recruiting App" on p. 156.

Is it possible to get a copy of Creating On-Demand.... somewhere else? I have lost my password to that site and can't find a way to get a new one.

No worries!  It is strange that they don't have a "Forgotten Password" function for that...

Great stuff in this doc. I'm trying to automate emails to leads on a time interval basis and the only thing I've been able to figure out w/ SF is that all automation is internal to the system users. You can't auto email time based materials to leads.

...the search goes on. I think this will be an App Exchange kind of solution.

Well, if you can't find what you need on AppExchange, you can always suggest it on IdeaExchange in the hopes that someone will build it.  Or, if you're pressed for time, post on the Jobs Board and have a contractor develop it for you.
