Updating a field dynamically in a page

Hi All,

 

I have 10 check box fileds in a page and i can check any of them depending on the requirement. i want to have a  summary field which is the sum of all the fields that are checked. Can any one suggest me on how to develop this functionality?

You can write summary field as formula.

I think summary field can be used only if there is a master-child relationship. In my case, i dont have it. It ia actually selecting some products and finding the sum of their base prices.
