Problems with opening attachments in Salesforce....

    Hi All,
My team is having A Lot of problems opening attachments in Salesforce. Specifically, when opening .tif files in Salesforce, Quicktime takes over, and either:
 1. opens the attachment in very small font with no way to zoom in     - OR
 2. only opens the first page of the attachment.

This is extremely problematic because we keep all of our contracts in the "Notes & Attachments" section in Salesforce. Has anyone else experienced this problem, or have any other troubleshooting ideas besides completely uninstalling the Quicktime application?
I appreciate any help!
Thanks,
RM Laura

The behavior when opening a .tif file (or any other attachment) is determine by your local computer/browser's configuration, not by Salesforce.

Is there any way to fix this problem?

you can change the default app for .tiff files via finder, find an existing local .tiff file, choose get info from the context menu, in the open with: section, pick the app you want to open tiffs with (say preview), and click change all. (I'm assuming you're on a mac as you mentioned quicktime)

You'll need to change the settings for handling files with a .tif file extension in the browser or operating system of every one of your end users, or change to a file format other than .tif where the default behavior does what you want.

One of our users had this same issue. We uninstalled Quicktime and tiff's went back to their previous association. If you need Quicktime then the other suggestions will work.
