Professional Edition - Application Targetted

Is Apex or triggers using Apex code or creating a button with Apex supported in Professional Edition?
What are the alternatives ?

No.  You might be able to get around some of the limitations by getting your application AppExchange-Certified (contact the AppExchange team about that), but generally the answer is just target Enterprise Edition and above instead.
