Question about Formula field

Can you include a field from another table in a formula?
ScotScot

Peter,

Nope; so far, all fields in a formula must come from the same table.

While quite a few people have asked for this to be extended, it never hurts to add your thoughts to the list.  Make sure to submit a request through the support tab in salesforce...

Hello,

I would love to see this feature in a future release of the product. This would make the formulas feature much more powerful. I think it would reduce the need for a programmer even more for IT guys like myself.

Thanks,
SPowser

Thanks for the reply.

I am making a custom object and I want to show the current value of a source field in another (standard) object within the custom object.  Whenever the source field changes, I want the view in the custom object to remain correct.

Do you know a way to do this?

We really need this functionality. Now it seems that the only way to do it is to Buy a Server, Install IIS on it and write a web application to get the same functionality. All I want to do is like this:

{!Opportunity!Status} etc.

Anyone know how?
