Apex Data loader ver 9.0 v/s ver 11.0

Hi,

When we were using Apex Data loader 9.0, it connected to salesforce.com only via our air-card or wireless network. The tool was unable to connect from our safeway LAN.

But in the latest version 11.0, it gets connected to salesforce.com even via safeway network.

Can anyone please throw some light on what changed in ver. 11.0 of the apex data loader which caused this change?

what version of salesforce do you have?

we have professional, and i cant even use the data loader......is it worth it?

We are using enterprise edition... and yes the tool is very useful for us to carry out mass inserts/updates and deletes in salesforce.

We are def thinking of using it, but want to get the details on it.
