Linking to Custom tab directly within salesforce

Is it possible to link to a custom tab created within salesforce.com? Basically as part of our integration we want to create a few custom tabs within salesforce.com. However in order to keep the end user entirely in salesforce.com we have some outside apps that need to link to those tabs. In edition it would be nice to pass in some parameters through to the actual web pages residing withing those tabs.

Thoughts?

Thanks

FYI just to make this clearer.. I need to pass in some parameters to the custom tab, and then have them passed on the framed URL/page. I search the threads, dont see any hacks for this. I would assume this is a common need?

The idea is to keep our users completely in your app, and embed our app within yours via a few custom tabs. In order to support this we need to be able to push the users to the custom tabs from an email for example.
