what is OWD in salesforce???

What is the use of that one???

OWD means org wide defaults is to give base level of record access to each of the object.
For Example:- You can set base level access to Account as 'Private'. In this case logged user can only access the records created by him.

OWD is a record level access for an organization which specifies the level of access a user has to other user data and is basically used to restrict access. You can change the organization-wide sharing settings for both standard and custom object.

Organization Wide Defaults(OWD) in salesforce is the baseline level of access that the most restricted user should have. Organizational Wide Defaults are used to restrict access. You grant access through other means like(sharing rules, Role Hierarchy, Sales Teams and Account teams, manual sharing, Apex Sharing ). In simple words Organization Wide Defaults(OWD) specify the default level of access users have to each other’s records.
