New functions: Custom Lookup fields

Hello,

I have created a new object named Countries and I would like to have that the country field on adresses looks up on this custom objects. Is it possible ? I hope so because otherwise not to be able to restrict the countries the users are entering is a mess

Perhaps you can remove the other Country field from the layout? There is no way to re-cast the standard field into a new type.

Do salesforce have any plan to include in the standard that country is a picklist and you are providing it

or less elegant solutions to be able to fill in a standard field based on an action/event in a custom fields like

I have Custom_Country on my leads/contacts/Accounts and each time one Custom_Country the matching sub-field Country is filled (by a workflow rule for instance) by the same data

(I do not want to poll data)
