Sporadic problems using sforce api 7 today

Besides intermittent data type erros. Right now at 1PM Pacific time I am getting totally different behavior on the describeObject call between using the 5.0 endpoint and the 7.0 endpoint.

Also getting some intermitent connection problems.

Anyone else seeing issues today?

Our email alerts (and my manual emails) have not been flowing to our users for the past 3 hours. trust.salesforce.com says they had a problem earlier today but reports "All Systems Operational" now.
