Advice on Loading Data

May I please have advice on loading baseline data? Any tricks, gotcha's, land mines?

 

We need to build a script to insert a baseline set of data so the Developer Sandboxes can be of some value.

Easiest way of getting baselinedata would be using Salesforce Dataloader.

 

Alternatively, Excel Connector could be of terrific help if you are an excel geek.

If you plan to run scripts to automate data loads, then Dataloader is the salesforce recommended solution. In fact, it is the solution covered in the developer certification.
