Customer Portal: Removing items from search dropdown list

Hi,

 

We have a search component in the left column of our customer portal. As we are only using the Ideas functionality, I was wondering how I might remove the "Search All", "Cases, "Assets, "Tasks"and "Notes" from the dropdown list, given that they are redundant.

 

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I believe you want to create a custom Home Page Layout, remove Search from that layout (and configure other items as desired), then associate that Home Page Layout with the proper Customer Portal Profiles.

I would like to keep the search as it's useful functionality, but I need to find a way to hide the search options for items suchas cases and tasks (leaving only Ideas) as they will not be made available withink my portal.

Have you removed the CRUD permissions for those specific objects from the associated Customer Portal Profiles? That
