Customizing the lookup window

Hi all,

Is it possible to customize the lookup window? I have a lookup to Contacts in my custom object. I would like to modify the fields that appears when you click on the new button in the lookup window. That is I would like to add my own custom fields that I have created in custom object to the lookup window. Is that possible? Any help is appreciated.

If you turn on Enhanced Lookups for Contact (Setup | Customize | Search | Search Settings), then you can use Setup | Customize | Contact | Search Layouts to control which fields appear.

Thanks. But I wanted to know about the quick create option. That is whenever we enable it in user interface, then there is a 'new' button that comes in the lookup window to create a new contact. Whenever we click on the new button we are provided with some default fields in the lookup window. I would like to know whether we can add our own fields in that.

To my knowledge the Quick Create option is not presently customizable.
