Do I need to take DEV401 if I took ADM201?

I have taken ADM201 and have been using/administrating SFDC for ~6 months. I want to learn more about development (mostly Apex) - do I need to take DEV401, or can I go ahead to DEV501? It seems like there's a lot of crossover between DEV401 and ADM201. Thanks in advance!

I don't think anyone can really tell you which to take as you need to ultimately make the decision that's best for you. Keep in mind though that DEV 501 is very, very code intense. If you already have made coding skills in another language you should be fine otherwise you might be a bit over your head. The certification also has a programming assignment that isn't trivial that you must also pass in order to get the certification.

Firstly Congratulations fo ADM-201.

See, 201 is for understanding Admin part like Setup Section custom object/standard entities and many more.

401 - is for getting understanding @ code level like how to code on Apex controller Trigger and VF Pages ( cline  side) so please make sure in which section you have interest other waise there are plenty of coursed to do.

I am 401 certified  as I have interest in coding part. Please feel free to ask any question in future.

Hmm.. I have some basic experience in Java and know SQL and HTML/CSS. I went to a SFDC developer workshop a few weeks ago which included a very brief overview of Apex, building one trigger and a custom VF page. I know Apex is similar to Java, but I have not used it in almost 2 years. What would you advise?
