Control User Access of Leads, Accounts or Contacts

Hi,

Is there any way to control user access to Leads, Accounts or Contacts? Since we have a fair amount of sales rep turnover, we don't want to risk our information being taken to a competitor.

Thanks,

Pete

Yes - Enterprise is needed for sharing controls, which allow you to limit a sales rep's access to only records that they own.

There's a bunch of security controls, but at the end of the day it comes down to your process as nothing is perfect.

Easiest is to deactivate a sales rep as soon as you find out they are leaving.

Other options are to use a private sharing & mass reassign ownership of their records when you find out instead of de-activating their user.  Reassigning a private record prevents them from viewing the data in reports.

However, as many leave on their own, there's really nothing you can do to stop them from running a report & exporting prior to telling you.

Hi John,

Thanks for the insight.

I thought about this. Does this matter if we have Professional or Enterprise?

Would Enterprise allow me to set these tighter controls without inhibiting their job?

Thanks,

Pete
