Amazon s3 as storage server to upload files from salesforce

Hi All,

We are using Amazon s3 as storage server to upload files from salesforce. It is working fine.

But some clients are facing issues with file upload/download due to their proxy restrictions. So the user who is uploading

the file is clueless about what went wrong. To handle this, I am trying to connect to https://s3.amazonaws.com

using XMLHttpRequest in Java script. If the request fails, I am displaying that "Unable to connect to

https://s3.amazonaws.com. Reason: Proxy Restriction".

XMLHttpRequest is failing because of cross domain problem. Can anyone guide me through this.Does anyone have

better approach?

Thanks

Gops

Have you researched the Amazon Toolkit for Force.com here?

It uses Apex classes to make the web service calls to S3.

You might also think about contact Appirio, who has written Appirio Cloud Storage on S3.  They may be able to help you.

Thanks for your inputs. I want to prove the client that the problem is with proxy restrictions and not with the application.Do you have any idea to demonstrate the proxy restriction of the client.Amazon toolkit will allow Apex to talk with Amazon s3.This will be at salesforce server end.I want to tell the client that the connectivity issue is with the client end.

Hi All,
Its very easy to integrate SFDC with Amazon S3 by using the app named Drag, Drop & Upload Files to Amazon S3 for this am using the same  and its very easy to use and having advanced features like you can delete/view your files from salesforce, and also provide some additional customization .
If you have been using Salesforce for any length of time, you have probably wanted to attach large and multiple files at one time. Now you can! In standard salesforce, you can attach and only upload files up to 25MB size one at a time.

This App provides you the facility to associate multiple files to a record in one go and without any size restriction.
