Can we access custom tabs and custom apps using customer portal login

We have a user role common to the  organization,who can access other users details and modify user objects through our application,so if we are creating a customer portal login for that role will he be able to access our application.

He can only access if user is set with all the access permission. You only need to put the tab and app visibility.

There are different types of user license in customer portal,which license is best suited for my scenario.

To make it clear,

 

Our end users will be salesforce users and they will be using a Professional or Group or Developer or any kind of organisation that salesforce provides. We would like to know as a customer portal user, how we can access their tabs and objects and enter data on their behalf.

 

To create a customer portal user what are the steps we need to be followed.

Customer Portal is only available in Developer, Enterprise, and Unlimited Edition. Online Help has great resources that walk you through configuring customer portal. 

 

For custom objects, makes sure the setting "Available for Customer Portal" is enabled. Then make sure the portal profiles have the proper CRUD and Field Level Security settings to access those objects and tabs.

I provided a link to the online help information about configuring customer portal. Have you enabled your objects for portal? Have you configured the portal profile(s) to enable CRUD access on your objects? What issues are you having? 

 

As stated earlier, Customer Portal is not available in Professional Edition. Its requires Developer, Enterprise, or Unlimited Edition.
