Differance between service cloud and sales cloud

what the difference between servce and sales cloud. Does they differ by application? if so what applicatiion they belongs to, how to  differenciate?

I'm not sure this was posted in the best place as I found this topic in the "Apex Code Development" board.

"Sales Cloud" is essentially the application name for the Salesforce SFA offering.

"Service Cloud" is the app name for the Salesforce Service/Support/Helpdesk offering.

Each is considered an application, but they share common features and schema (Accounts, Contacts, Events, Tasks, and many more). But each has their own features as well. Probably the best place to start would be to read the feature lists here, as what they contain and how they differ also corresponds to the edition of SFDC you are using:
