Storing Multi-lingual Data

Can I store multilingual data in custom object fields?

 

Is there any good documentation on developing mulilingual applications for salesforce?

 

Does the data loader work well importing multilingual data?  I see some questions unanswered with issues regarding this?

what kind of multi-lingual data are we talking abt , i've pushed Multi-byte characters for european langauges which works fine but of course not with Data loader. i think Salesforce does support multi-byte characterset with mandarin and chinese data set in the newer API releases

This is an application where language translations for English phrases are to be maintained.  So we need to have the ability to add/modify/display/import records which contain multiple language data.
