How to resolve this - "Error: You cannot reassign a recurring task occurrence."?

Would like to get insights on working around this error, "Error: You cannot reassign a recurring task occurrence.". Thanks!

I'm just spitballing here because I haven't tried this but could you set it to non-recurring, reassign it then set it back to recurring?

I don't think that is possible based on Recurring Tasks: 

 

"After a task is created, it can’t be changed from recurring to nonrecurring or vice versa."

Hi Daniel,

Appreciate your answer, just concerned cause I'm tasked to transfer 2000 tasks, 1000 of which are recurring, so manually recreating these under a different owner maybe too time consuming. Still collating work arounds.
