APEX data loader does not work on fields with formula

Hi Experts,

              apex data loader is not updating field with formula.

Can't we update those fields?

No you cannot update a formula field. Check if the formula field is refering to anothe rfield ad you can change that value to get desired value in your formula field.

Hi  vriavm,

                           Thank you so much for your kind response. I was able to update the field by updating the fields in formula.

formula fields can not be updated directly, neither by data loader  nor by any apex script..
