Workflow not firing on send email

Using the send email option to send emails from activity history related list is creating a record in task. But the workflow on task is not firing for these activities. can any body please advice.

did you activated the workflow?



workflow is active. It is firing for the log a calls but not for Send Emails.


On what object are you logging the Activity? Check if the email address is valid.


I tried on account & opportunity but I think it should not matter as the workflow is supposed to fire on task object. I doubt if workflow rules fire for Send Email functionality. can somebody confirm? Thanks


I'm having the same problem.


It worked for me when I manually went in an edited the task with the subject of Email: XXX.  I have the workflow set to run on create.


I, too, would like a solution where it fires on create and doesn't need manual editing.


As a workaround you can achieve through a trigger but workflow would have been ideal if it works.

I am interested to know whether it is a limitation from Salesforce
